Elisa Sherman will join us to share information on the Cairn Writer’s Workshopwww.cairnwritersworkshop.com, give us a brief description of their workshop philosophy, provide an Active Listening Exercise, including Ways to Respond to Other People’s Work, and describe for us their Wayfinding Courses.
Elisa Sherman has been writing since she was a child, but has been actively taking writing classes and workshops for the last ten years. She is currently working on a novel about Jennie Brown, the young wife of William McGaa, a founder of Denver City (the one who helped “jump” the existing claims – claims he also wrote!). Finding Jennie changed Elisa’s life, because before that she just wrote for fun. Now she is obsessed. And loves to talk about the craft of writing. An Elementary school teacher by training, facilitating workshops is a natural fit for her passions and skill-set. Responding to other writers, helping them build on their strengths and to find their own voice, strengthens and inspires her as an artist. Elisa is a member of the Slow Sand Writing Society, and an active member of the Fort Collins writing community. Her essay, “Geometry Lessons,” was published in theFront Range Review, Spring 2013.
