Topic: “What Librarians Look For in Children’s Books” by speaker KD (Karin) Huxman. Karin has an MFA in writing for children and young adults. Her most recent non-fiction book for teens, The Colorado Coal Field Wars: Massacre at Ludlow, won gold in the Ben Franklin awards and a bronze in the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards. Karin is a former library media specialist for District 20 and worked many years for PPLD.
Also: Each person should bring their goal for 2020 to share with the group.
Remaining time: Critiques. Bring 8 copies of entire picture book manuscript or an excerpt (5 pages) of your Chapter Book, MG or YA manuscript.
