Ellen Byerrum is thrilled to announce the publication of her first children’s picture book under her imprint Ellen Street Books. Told in rhyme and meter, SHERLOCKTOPUS HOLMES: EIGHT ARMS OF THE LAW delights children and parents. It also introduces basic mystery concepts and amusing definitions. Illustrations by Jacqueline Berkman-Glatingny.
Madison Moore at Albert Whitman has bought world rights to Shaped by Her Hands: Potter Maria Martinez by Anna Harber Freeman, and Barbara Gonzales, who is Maria’s great-granddaughter. The picture book biography follows Maria’s path as a Native American Indian artist. Publication is set for spring 2021.

Jolene Gutiérrez has signed a four-book contract with Carson Dellosa Publishing to write a Latin Pop Stars series. Titles include Shakira, Ozuna, J Balvin, and Sofía Reyes.
Amy Hempe won the Colorado Authors’ League award for Best Short Story on June 7 for “Finding The Perfect Sandy,” which appeared in the May 2019 issue of Cricket Magazine.
Heather Brockman Lee is excited to share that she illustrated a four page poem for the upcoming July/August issue of Babybug magazine, published by Cricket media, titled “Sandbox Fun”.
On Sunday, June 7th, the Colorado Author’s League picture book award went to Papa’s Changes, Dementia Through a Child’s Eyes by Linda Osmundson. Papa’s Changes, Dementia Through a Child’s Eyes was also a finalist in the Next Generation Indie Awards, Children’s Education, 6 & up category.
Laura Resau’s upper middle grade novel, Tree of Dreams (Scholastic, 2019), won the Colorado Book Award in the Juvenile category.
Heather Mateus Sappenfield’s middle-grade novel The River Between Hearts was the finalist for the Kraken Prize at Fitzroy Books. Fitzroy will publish the book, for release in Spring of 2022. You can find out more here.

Natasha Vizcarra signed with Tahanan Books in the Philippines to write a COVID-19 book for kids ages 7 and up. Natasha’s works have previously been published in Tahanan’s anthology of award-winning stories for kids. See more.
