A touching story about tyke-sized compassion and unconditional love, How to Love Your Pug is the first in a series of delicately designed picture books by Colorado author Lisa Blake and illustrator Nadine Rebrovic. New York Times Dance Critic selected I WILL DANCE by Nancy Bo Flood as a 2020 top dance book that: “parts the curtain on the life of a girl born with cerebral palsy…. she wants to dance.  This book puts us in this child’s chair … and mind.”

 

Megan E. Freeman’s debut novel-in-verse ALONE was published in January by Simon & Schuster and got a lovely feature on NPR. “This exciting story of tenacity, determination, and ingenuity is hard to put down, and thank heavens nothing happens to the dog.” More information is available on Megan’s website here.

 

Cindy Kim at Little Simon has bought world rights to Strut, Baby, Strut, written by Amika Kroll and illustrated by Ebony Glenn. In this board book, girls are encouraged to reach high, dream big, and be proud of who they are. Publication is scheduled for spring 2022.

 

Jennie MacDonald’s illustrated essay tracing the history of Aladdin, “‘Who Will Change New Lamps for Old Ones?’: Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp in British and American Children’s Entertainment,” appears in All Things Arabia, an open-access collection published by Brill.

 

Jo Renfro is excited to be illustrating a two-page spread for the April 2021 issue of Ladybug magazine.

 

Michelle Schaub, a long-time member of SCBWI who just moved from Chicago area to Fort Collins, is excited to join the RMC-SCBWI. She has a new picture book in verse called KINDNESS IS A KITE STRING releasing April 1 with Cardinal Rule Press. Find out more by clicking here.

 

Natasha Wing’s The Night Before the Dentist is coming out June 8, 2021. This will be the 27th Night Before book in her series with Grosset & Dunlap.
