Rachel Delaney Craft’s short story “Yara and the Witch Queen,” an African-inspired fairy tale, appeared in the October 2019 issue of CRICKET magazine.

 

Martha Freeman’s nonfiction book, Born Curious, Twenty Girls Who Grew Up to Be Awesome Scientists, will be released Feb. 20 by Simon & Schuster but is available for pre-order now. Illustrations are by the brilliant Katy Wu.

 

Darcee Freier won Honorable Mention in the Children’s/YA category of the 88th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition with her story, The Best Snowball Fight EVER.

The Colorado Coal Field War: Massacre at Ludlow by K.D. Huxman, illustrated by Lisa Greenleaf, is a Bronze Winner in the Non-Fiction Chapter Book Category of the 2019 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards. Published by Apprentice Shop Books

 

Cathy Ringler’s debut middle grade novel, Miya’s Dream, was awarded a bronze medal in the 2019 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards.

 

Author and Educator Dolly Viscardi’s second picture book in the All Around Series was published by All Around Reading on September 15, 2019. The book is available at Tattered Cover and Second Star to the Right Bookstores in Denver, and Country Raised in Meeker, Colorado.

 

D. Michelle West is a 2019 Cybils Awards Judge in the Elementary/Middle Grade Non-Fiction category.
