Letters & Lines Golden Pen Winner

Congratulations to K.C. Held, the winner of this year’s Golden Pen Award for her submission GHOST WANTED.  As the winner of this prestigious award, K.C. will receive free conference tuition to our 2019 Letters & Lines conference! Our panel of judges were three published authors from other regions (California, Michigan, and New York) who read all submissions and scored them based on various craft elements.  The judges commented on the high quality of work coming out of the Rocky Mountain Region; all of our finalists should be proud.



Dianne Blomberg was accepted as part of Team Fox by the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research to help raise funds through a percentage of profits agreement from funds raised through the publication and sales of her new picture book, Max and the Mysterious Noise.


Samantha Cohoe’s debut novel A GOLDEN FURY, a YA historical fantasy about a teenaged alchemist on the verge of creating the Philosopher’s Stone, will be published in Winter 2020 by Wednesday Books.


Joni Franks is pleased to announce that her new book, “Sagebrush and the Butterfly Creek Flood” has been released.  This is the fourth book in the multi-award winning book collection, “Corky Tails, Tales of a Tailless Dog Named Sagebrush,” published by Xlibris Publishing.


Claudia Cangilla McAdam reports the recent release of two eBooks. RIDDLE AT THE RODEO (Two Sons Press, 2018) is a middle-grade mystery, and BECKONING (Two Sons Press, 2018) is YA Biblical Historical fiction and the sequel to her previous novel, AWAKENING (Sophia Institute Press, 2009).


Karen Koepcke Morgan signed with literary agent Doug Whiteman for her Middle Grade Comedy Novel NERD NOTEBOOK – My Gawky Beginning to Middle School


Laura Roettiger’s book ALIANA REACHES FOR THE MOON, will be released by Eifrig Publishing on 2/19/2019 to coincide with the full moon.  STEM Picture book. See how the light of the full moon inspires Aliana to create a present for her brother Gustavo and surprises the whole family.


Carrie Seidel won the SCBWI 2018 Magazine Merit Award in non-fiction for her article “Danger! Rescue On Thin Ice” published by Highlights in December 2017.


Kaz Windness is pleased to announce Mother Goth Rhymes, an illustrated collection of original goth poetry derived from popular nursery rhymes, will be published by Hermes Press summer of 2019.
