Simon and Schuster recently acquired I WILL DANCE, a picture book written by Nancy Bo Flood. The illustrator states that she is wonderfully challenged to create images of a young girl determined to dance – and does – even though the girl’s hands are her only mobility used to power her motorized wheelchair.


Jessie Hilb debuts her young adult novel, THE CALCULUS OF CHANGE, on February 27, 2018, published by Clarion Books, an imprint of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books. Jessie is represented by kt literary. Upcoming events can be found online.


Jennie MacDonald’s short story, “Patterned in Shadow,” was published on December 1, 2017, by Zoetic Press in NON-BINARY REVIEW, Issue #15, an anthology celebrating Shirley Jackson’s classic Gothic novel, WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE.


Todd Mitchell’s middle-grade novel THE LAST PANTHER (Delacorte Press), just received a LitPick “Top Choice Award.” In the words of one of the middle school reviewers who selected this book: “I loved this book, and I think anyone, animal lover or not, will enjoy this book as well.” Check it out!


Ariane Peveto illustrated a second book, MONTHS OF THE YEAR for Amerlish, an American English school based in Beijing, China, for classroom use.


Jacqueline Peveto illustrated “Three Tales from Aesop” and “The Girl Who Had an Eating Match with a Troll” for classroom use by Amerlish, an American English school in Beijing, China.


Laura Roettiger received a scholarship from AWP to attend Writers in Paradise at Eckerd College where she worked with Laura McCaffrey. Her PB pitch, “Gustavo’s Big Idea” won the final round of Susanna Hill’s “Would you read it Wednesday?” blog contest and will receive feedback from Erin Molta.


Kim Tomsic’s debut middle grade novel, THE 11:11 WISH (Katherine Tegen Books/HarperCollins) debuts on February 13, 2018. Upcoming speaking engagements and book launch party can be found online at


Natasha Wing’s picture book, BAGEL IN LOVE, (1/2/2018, Sterling Children’s Books). Natasha was so inspired by the illustrated characters she had a custom dress made to wear to book events. Her new book in her Night Before series – THE NIGHT BEFORE MY FIRST COMMUNION – was published 1/23, Grosset & Dunlap.


Susan Wroble’s article Animals on My Mind, about the scientific effects of human-animal interactions, was published by Cricket Media’s Muse magazine in their February issue.
