Jeri Baird’s second book in the TOKENS AND OMENS series releases Sept. 12. CURSES AND WARFARE, published by Jolly Fish Press, is a YA fantasy. Zander trains a group of rag-tag warriors, and Alexa clashes with a deceptive mentor, preparing for war as traitors lurk in shadows and betrayals abound.

 

Melanie Crowder is celebrating the release of two novels: THREE PENNIES (Atheneum/ S&S) is a Global Read Aloud contender and received starred reviews from Kirkus and SLJ; AN UNINTERRUPTED VIEW OF THE SKY (Philomel/ Penguin) is a Junior Library Guild selection and received starred reviews from Kirkus, SLJ, & PW.

 

Women Writing the West has awarded Soldier Sister, Fly Home the WILLA literary award in children's and YA literature. This award is named in honor of Willa Cather, one of the first western women authors. Thank you Women Writing The West and librarians! Nancy Bo Flood

Todd Mitchell's (LINK www.ToddMitchellBooks.com) middle grade novel THE LAST PANTHER was just released by Delacorte Press in August. It follows the story of Kiri, an eleven-year-old girl who captures the last known wild panther with her scientist father, and embarks on a dangerous journey to save both the panther and herself.

 

Jeannie Mobley’s upcoming middle grade mystery, BOBBY LEE CLAREMONT AND THE CRIMINAL ELEMENT (Holiday House) has been chosen as a Junior Library Guild Selection for 2018. The book releases on September 28, 2017.

 

MISSING BONES, a middle grade novel by Phyllis J. Perry, will be published in May 2018 by Tumblehome Learning. Set in Boulder, many landmarks will be familiar to local readers.

 

Erin Price’s middle grade manuscript, SUPER WEENIE, was selected as a finalist in the MG/YA category for the 2017 Colorado Gold contest, sponsored by Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers. Winners will be announced at the Colorado Gold Conference in September.
